My name is Myung Huh, and I am the President of the Korean National Council of Women.
Since its establishment in 1959, the Korean National Council of Women holds a pioneering national role in abolishing unfair discrimination against women and promoting women’s status and rights. It is formed of 61 member councils from various areas and 17 metropolitan and provincial councils of women. We have 5 million members nationwide. We continuously endeavor to have fair environments and equal opportunities for women to realize their full potential and be an active part in progressing our society.
The Korean National council of Women also promotes the rights and interest of women globally through information exchange and cooperation with the United Nations and other women’s organizations around the world.
Unfortunately, discrimination, physical and psychological violence against women still persist throughout our society and worldwide. The Korean National Council of Women has always and continues to stand on the side of women with deepest loyalty and faithfully fulfills our role of protecting women.
Only with the active participation and involvement of women, the society as an entirety can advance. Let’s join hands altogether to build a better Korea for future generations to come.
Thank you. Your sincerely.
